Mill Race Moto isn’t just another café…
We’re creating an independent destination that brings together artisan baking, specialty coffee and automotive culture in a beautifully designed space just outside Colchester.

By day, we’ll be serving exceptional coffee and food, surrounded by a carefully curated collection of classic cars and motorcycles, regular enthusiast meets, and a welcoming community of people who appreciate craftsmanship, quality and doing things properly.

We’re founded by two hospitality professionals with over 25 years’ experience who also happen to be lifelong car and motorcycle enthusiasts. We’re building the kind of place we’d want to spend our own weekends in.

And great coffee will sit right at the heart of it.
We’re looking for founding Baristas to join us from the beginning, and help create an experience people will travel to be part of.

The Opportunity

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply make drinks and move customers through a queue.

We’re looking for people who genuinely care about hospitality, enjoy speaking to people and take pride in doing things properly. You’ll be part of a small, passionate team helping to establish Mill Race Moto from day one.

You’ll have the opportunity to shape standards, contribute ideas and become part of a business that’s being built carefully and deliberately, with quality and community at its centre.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Preparing consistently exceptional coffee and other drinks to a high standard

  • Delivering warm, engaging and knowledgeable customer service

  • Creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers and regulars alike

  • Maintaining cleanliness and organisation throughout the café

  • Supporting food service and front-of-house operations where required

  • Taking pride in presentation and attention to detail

  • Helping build a positive team culture from the very beginning

About You

You’ll ideally have:

  • Previous barista or hospitality experience

  • A genuine interest in specialty coffee and learning more about it

  • A friendly and engaging personality

  • High standards and great attention to detail

  • A calm, positive approach, even when busy

  • Reliability and strong work ethic

  • A desire to be part of something from the ground up

Most importantly, we’re looking for kind, enthusiastic people who care about hospitality and enjoy making other people feel welcome.
